On March 15th, management presented a proposal that actually *decreased* the amount of their economic package. It included:
- COLA unchanged (0% in year 1, and 4% in year 2)
- Health Insurance Caps unchanged
- Ratification bonus that would result in the vast majority of our FT faculty and APs receiving just $200. PT faculty members would receive either $250 or $500, depending on their step level (this is a decrease from their most recent proposal).
Despite this disappointing offer, it definitely seemed to us that management is beginning to fray. The frustration and pressure is ratcheting up the tension at the table. We can only imagine what is happening behind the scenes.
As for us, we don’t have to imagine what our members care about. Over the last week, we have heard you loud and clear: You care about students having classes, a COLA that keeps up with inflation, and affordable healthcare. You want to be compensated fairly for your labor. The most common refrain we’ve heard from you on the picket line is this: Hold the line.
We’re taking this to heart. We are holding the line. We need you to do the same.
Friends, tomorrow is incredibly important. We need as many people as possible on the picket line. Bring your neighbors, your friends, your dogs. Call your coworkers and ask them to join you. Show management that we will not be broken. Our solidarity is our power. It is how we win.
