Re-Opener Update #25: Staying strong! Check-in and Survey

As you may know, our Classified colleagues reached a tentative agreement with administration yesterday. You probably have mixed feelings about that: Happy/relieved for them, worry about losing their support on the line, and concern about their agreement not including restorative pay for strike days. We are feeling all of those things, too!

We want to reassure you that we are strong and our fight is ongoing! The FCE agreement is not a bad thing for us. Yesterday afternoon our bargaining team met with the management team, and they were surprisingly candid when they shared that spring term cannot start without us. This is a tremendous amount of leverage as we head into week 3 of our strike.

Can you please fill out this brief survey? (link in email) We want to better understand what folks are experiencing, what concerns are most urgent, and how we can support each other to stay strong. Your responses will help organizers follow up directly and shape next steps.

We hope you will join us downtown today at 5:00 for a press conference with our colleagues at Central Oregon Community College, who plan to go on strike April 2. Picketing starts at 3:30. It’s supposed to be sunny! More information here.

It’s a beautiful day to fight for a better future. We are holding the line.
