Bargaining Update #9

We continued to provide a number of initial proposals to the administrative bargaining team last Friday. Once again, we did not receive any substantive counter-offers from administration – in 4 sessions we have received 1 proposal. Administration has indicated they would bring the majority of their proposals to the next session on June 23. We are very interested to hear from administration with their counters and original proposals.

FFAP Proposed:

PT Job Security: Article 4, Class Assignments and Article 22 Discipline–proposing a system allowing for step accrual to be used to assign classes and allowing PT faculty to have just cause in discipline, a basic worker’s right that FT faculty and APs have. PT Sick Leave: Article 19, lifting the cap on accrual.

Definitions of APs: Article 1, clarifying what the law says so managers and APs have a shared understanding..

Countered on AP leave bank: Article 16 we’re close to reaching an agreement on this.

Professional Development for PT APs: Article 6 this would allow pro-rated release time for part-time Academic Professionals just like FT APs.

Use it or Lose It Vacation for APs: Article 19 clarifying and simplifying the process for allowing APs who cannot use their vacation time prior to the August 20th deadline to cash out their paid leave hours.

The next bargaining session will be June 23rd and it will be an all day session 9am-4pm. More information on how to observe will be coming soon!
