The short bargaining session on Friday, Oct. 20 saw great movement from administration on some key bargaining platform issues. The only articles presented focused on Part time faculty issues. We also had an excellent town hall discussion and Q and A over the lunch hour.
- Agreed to maintain 300 MYCs and that only PT faculty at Step 3 or higher are eligible to apply for MYCs
- Finally agreed to seniority for class assignments for PTers without an MYC
- Right of first refusal – Courses will be assigned to existing PT faculty before they hire new PT faculty from outside the College
- Priority given to pt faculty who apply for ft positions.
While we are not quite at a tentative agreement on these issues, we are much closer.
After months of passing these articles back and forth, why is admin suddenly making movement at the table?
Because of you! You rallied at in-service, picketed, observed bargaining in large numbers, raised your voice at the Board of Directors meeting, and signed the strike pledge along with 541 other members so far! When we show up, we win!
