On Friday, Aug. 4, we received our first two substantive counters to our proposals. Of interest to part-time faculty is an addition to Article 3 which would give part-time instructors who meet specific qualifications tied to the job posting an initial interview for any open full-time positions. Also in Article 3, the college added language to provide open CTE positions more flexibility in the hiring timelines. Smaller changes are included in the Administration’s counter proposal which you can find here.
FFAP also received a counter to our Article 4 proposal which officially moved MOA language regarding MYCs and answers from the MYC FAQ page into the contract under Article 4. While many of our proposals, suggestions, and changes seem to have been overlooked or dismissed, administration did counter by proposing a limit of 200 MYCs across the district. This is a drop of 100 MYCs – a decrease not in the best interest of faculty or students. On a positive note, the college did include that tutor hours will be used “for purposes of calculating benefits.” Prepare to see more discussions around Article 4 in the bargaining sessions to come!
