Our last session began after 2 hours of waiting for administration to show up to bargaining.
The administration continues to show up seemingly unprepared for bargaining and are creating their proposals during the bargaining sessions instead of doing their homework beforehand.
When they did finally show up to bargaining, they presented us a packaged proposal containing changes to multiple articles. A package means we either accept all of the proposed changes to the multiple articles in the package or reject them all. While there was some positive movement within the proposals, particularly around part-time job security, it wasn’t enough for the bargaining team to say yes to all the proposed changes. You can read the proposals here.
Administration’s Article 6 proposal would not give APs any flexibility or autonomy, instead giving managers even more control over scheduling and modality. Furthermore, it has been confirmed during bargaining that the college doesn’t know or won’t tell us what the current process is for setting AP salary levels/grades. But rather than making the current system clear to APs, they are planning to upend the current classification system, using (of course) outside consultants.
Despite our strong opposition, the administration continues to repeat its same unworkable proposals for full-time faculty on professional duties, work hours, modality, and more.
FFAP members stand together in winning the terms essential to all members, regardless of employee class. Let’s keep the pressure and solidarity going at the next session!
