Bargaining Update #12

On July 24, two Academic Advisors, Alycia Kearns and Abel De La Cruz, presented a moving and difficult picture of how excessive workloads, top down decision making, and lack of autonomy have a negative impact not only on APs but also students. With a record number of observers (thanks to everyone who showed up!), they made a strong case for the need for increased autonomy and protections against workload. The administration’s response -claiming a need to shape and direct a vision for the college, presumably by controlling our schedules and modality-showed that they are not likely to budge on these issues without continued pressure.

FFAP presented the following proposals:

Article 1, 6, & 8: AP Workload and Autonomy which would give APs the opportunity to set their schedule and modality

Article 5: Classification System-clarifying job descriptions and how they are used in assessments

Article 27: Expanding health and safety protections to include climate crises and other emerging issues.

Article 30: A request for an annual dues audit to ensure this information is correct, and some additional data that we are legally allowed to have for the function of the union but the college has failed to provide.

FFAP has now presented all non-economic proposals and are waiting on counters from administration.
