The intern (s) would receive a $1600 per term for a minimum of 5 hours per week and up to 7 hours depending on work availability for organizing fellow students, over 3 terms starting when hired and ending with finals week in Spring 2023. The stipend will be pro-rated for Fall term. This position is intended to be a mutually beneficial relationship to build a stronger connection between PCC students and FFAP so that FFAP can advocate for better conditions for students as well.
The intern’s main responsibilities will be:
- Work collaboratively to organize and coalition build with students including student organizations, student resource centers, student government, and the general student population through outreach.
- Conduct class visits to talk to students about PCCFFAP and get feedback
- May also plan events that align with PCCFFAP’s vision, supports bargaining, and engages a broad range of students.
- Work with the Organizing Committee to create a plan for sustained student organizing and a plan for engaging PCCFFAP on student issues.
- Will help identify issues that impact both students and FFAP members to enable FFAP to bargain for the common good and advocate on behalf of students
- Every other week check-ins with the Organizing Officer and/or Staff Organizer
- Attend Organizing Committee meetings, if schedule allows
- Assist with social media content creation and posts, help increase followers

Most of the intern’s time will be spent independently (planning, outreach to student groups, face-to-face or virtual organizing, etc.) and they will report to Organizing Officer and the Staff Organizer

Qualifications for the Internship
- Enrollment in PCC during Fall, Winter, and Spring 2022-2023 terms
- Time in the student’s schedule to commit 5-7 hours / week to the internship
- Enthusiasm about the vision of student-centered, educator-led, debt-free education
- Interest in grassroots organizing
- Interest in learning from campus labor unions
- Flexible working style
- Some knowledge of higher education issues
- Some experience participating in or leading student organizations or other social justice related activities
